Using Microsoft Office 2007

"How do you plan to use the Office Ultimate 2007 release to excel in your academic studies?"

This blog is part of the Microsoft "The Ultimate Steal" Blogging Contest. Go to www.theultimatesteal.com for details.

One idea is to have a bi-monthly newsletter. Instead of saddling one or two individuals with this responsibility, use of the blog is ideal. For those of us without Internet access, extracting a newsletter from the blog will be done using Publisher. One participant expressed the need for computer knowledge in order to produce labels for the fruit preserves. The desire to have graphics and important data on the label for customer feedback and marketing is essential to the farmer's success. Did we forget to mention flyers and post cards for advertising and marketing? InfoPath will be come a highly used tool for each farmer. The need for invoices, receipts and purchase requisitions are all a part of the new wave of farm management. The available tutorials and sample forms are the best points of origin a new user can ask for. The very first file transferred between classmates was the Excel worksheet that allows the user to have a monthly income and expense workbook that has worksheets for each month and has a year to date column, it's perfect for budget projections and accounts management. Each farmer curtails to activities pertinent to their farm. Using Access to maintain customer and supplier tables that allow report generation of select records will help the farmer determine trends and the areas of growth. Use of Microsoft Wordmakes this all possible. From the insertion of graphic images and hyperlinks to grammar checking, Word is the essential tool of choice. Animal and crop production, from seed to harvest, can only shine through PowerPointpresentations with music, video and animations.

Hello fellow leaders!
I was unable to attend the last conference call but was wondering how everyone was doing with the conditions of our economy. Our little feed store "County Line Feed & Fertilizer" is hanging in there and I am now up to 20 goats and have with some good luck (12 nannies bred to a full south african boer that I leased). Some are already beginning to "show" signs of preparing for kidding and only two are questionable or not bred. Those of course will get to be sold soon.

I am also quite busy with my other hat in extension. Some of you as well as local producers have had questions about alternative sources for fertilizer and have asked about Monty's Liquid Fertilizer. I have had a few producers to try it - but do not expect miracles at first. This is a long program that you should follow to the letter but could end up saving you on your fertilizer costs.

Hope to see everyone soon.
